Kid's Dance: Dancers learn a variety of dance styles including jazz, hip hop, lyrical jazz, latin/ballroom and ballet. Structured like our ballet curriculum below, but specifically geared toward the Ages: 3-11
Ballet: Classical ballet technique with an emphasis on line, posture, control, and execution is taught through both barre and centre work. Additionally, students are exposed to modern styling, and work toward excellence in performance quality. Character work included at some levels as well. Students are placed in upper levels through audition to determine readiness, and annual RAD exams are available to take through invitation by instructor. Ages 3-Adult
Pointe: Ages 12-Adult and admission with teacher approval only. Concentration on preparing the feet and ankles for pointe work through strengthening exercises and technique is the foundation of this class.
Jazz: Contemporary jazz styles are taught within the course program including straight jazz, street jazz, urban/funk, stylized jazz, lyrical jazz, and Broadway. Technique work, based in ballet, is the foundation of each class. Students are expected to master the basics at each level before progressing to the next, and are admitted into upper levels only with prior experience or approval of the teacher. Every class includes warm ups, technique, across the floor work and a dance combination. Ages 6-Adult
Tap: Students in tap gain an exposure to both contemporary and classical tap rhythms. A variety of music is utilized in class, and improvisation is explored in the higher level classes. Ages 6-Adult
Hip Hop: A very contemporary, popular, and athletic dance style with urban influences, as seen in music videos, etc ... foundational dance technique is not taught (leaps, turns, pirouettes, etc.), but different hip hop styles and knowledge are explored through creative movements and teaching. Ages 12-Adult
Latin: Dances originating in Latin America. It consists of the following five dances: Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, and Jive. Do you notice that the last two dances are not in fact of Latin American origin? Compared to typical ballroom dancing, Latin dances are generally faster-paced, more sensual, and have more rhythmic expression. Music may be Latin American or sometimes even popular/contemporary songs that you may hear on the radio are used. Ages 6-Adult
Lyrical Jazz: A combination of jazz and ballet, lyrical jazz is a popular contemporary style throughout North America and several different countries all around the world. The style is technical, creative, yet free, and allows room for plenty of imagination and expression through dancing. This class requires both jazz and ballet training. Ages 12-Adult
